The YWCA of Richmond provides free comprehensive domestic violence services to survivors. We operate two confidentially-located emergency shelters in the Richmond area that women and their children can access at any time.
Our program provides:

Survivors of sexual violence face many challenges after an attack. Women and men have diffculty coping with the abuse itself, as well as the invasive evidence recovery process and the demands of prosecution. That's why trained YWCA staff and volunteers are on call 24-hours a day to meet survivors in the emergency rooms of local hospitals and accompany them to court appearances. We offer sexual violence counseling to individuals and groups in our downtown building and at various locations in Richmond.

The YWCA has long been a source of quality preschool education. We are one of a handful of nonprofit centers certified by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We offer full-day, year-round preschool programming. Our children are provided with educational activities, field trips, and nutritious meals from 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
In keeping with the YWCA's mission, the Child Development Center strives to provide services to families from diverse backgrounds. All children are admitted regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, or religion. The YWCA Child Development Center seeks to address the special needs of low-income and homeless families with children by offering income-based sliding scale fees and free childcare to families residing in local homeless shelters.
