finance assistant I

This full-time position assists Chief Financial Officer in all aspects of accounting process.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for system entry. This includes coding invoices, completing bank deposits, reviewing A/P, A/R accounts for accuracy, issuing petty cash/credit cards to employees, tracking receipts, and matching receipts to invoices. It will also involve acting as backup for entering invoices, processing and mailing checks, and entering receipts.

 

  • Process payroll and act as backup to maintain payroll records. This includes collecting relevant time sheets, reviewing the web-based timekeeping program, editing entries, reviewing records (including taxes and all other withholdings) for accuracy, transmitting payroll to outsourcing agent, and verifying and issuing checks. This position will act as backup for setting up new hires in payroll system, maintaining vacation and sick/medical leave records for each employee, maintaining benefits/withholding records, and maintaining payroll records.

 

  • Maintain and assist with General Accounting tasks. This involves preparing journal entries for system entry, maintaining assigned account reconciliations and assisting with audit and year-end preparation. This position will also act as backup for entering journal entries and preparing financial statements.

 

  • Maintain inventory records. This involves ensuring that the designated employees for the Richmond Shelter, Chesterfield Shelter, and Child Development Center are monitoring inventory levels and ordering correctly.

 

QualificationsAssociate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
