director of early childhood education

This full-time position plans for and directs the overall operations of the YWCA Child Development Center to ensure successful compliance with all federal, state and local partnering and regulatory entities, while providing a safe, healthy and creative learning environment for young children in preparation for educational achievement.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Works with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure timely and accurate documentation of program expenditures.
  • Oversees the development and management of revenue and expenses necessary to sustain and grow the capacity of the Child Development Center and YWCA early childhood initiatives.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures and objectives as prescribed by the Program Operations Manual, in accordance with all regulatory entities and guidelines.
  • Ensures a system of general operations and file/record-keeping (site administration, classroom, staff and child-specific, as well as outcomes and facility maintenance) in accordance with licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensures the collection of timely and accurate data for the purpose of reporting to all regulatory and funding entities and reviews report submissions.  Utilizes reports and collected data to further develop short and long range plans for program implementation and staff evaluation and development.
  • Ensures the hiring, scheduling, and evaluation of qualified personnel to ensure appropriate staff:child ratios at all times, as well as appropriate supervision of staff development and performance standards achievement.
  • Ensures strong Center/parent/community relationships by maintaining open systems of communication and facilitating input sessions with/for parents/guardians and community providers/partners as appropriate.
  • Represents the YWCA’s early childhood initiatives by participating in relevant community action groups as appropriate.
  • Works with the Facilities Manager to plan short and long range repair schedules as well as coordinates the resolution of emergency facility and vehicle needs.
  • Works with the Assistant Director to develop and manage systems for inventory management and purchasing office, grocery, classroom and first aid supplies, as well as those related to scheduling and day-to-day operations.
  • Works with the Volunteer and Public Education Specialist to ensure appropriate selection, activity planning, and tracking of individual and group volunteer activities.

 

Qualifications:  Master's Degree with related experience in early childhood programming or a Bachelor's Degree and sufficient experience relevant to the requirements of the position.  Management or supervisory skills essential.
